“सायक एक नाभि सर सोषा। अपर लगे भुज सिर करि रोषा॥ लै सिर बाहु चले नाराचा। सिर भुज हीन रुंड महि नाचा॥ “लै सिर बाहु चले नाराचा। सिर भुज हीन रुंड महि नाचा॥ “

भावार्थ :- एक बाण ने नाभि के अमृत कुंड को सोख लिया। दूसरे तीस बाण कोप करके उसके सिरों और भुजाओं में लगे। बाण सिरों और भुजाओं को लेकर चले। सिरों और भुजाओं से रहित रुण्ड (धड़) पृथ्वी पर नाचने लगा ॥

 Importance Of Dussehra

  • It is one of the major Hindu festivals celebrated yearly.
  • The festival of Navratri (9 days of celebrating each form of Maa Durga) ,culminates with Vijayadashmi.
  • Marks the end of Navratri.
  • Celebrated on the 10th day of the month of Ashvina(September-October) with appearance of full moon, called bright fortnight (Shukla paksha).
  • Preparation of Diwali starts after Dussehra.


In Ramayana, on this day, the 8th incarnation of Lord Vishnu, shri rama has killed the Ravana with his brother Lakshman and Devotee Hanuman. 

Significance Of Vijay Dashami

The day of Dussehra marks the end of demons like Ravan, Kumbhkarna and Meghnath i.e. the burn of anger, lust, pride , greed, jealousy, injustice, cruelty and ego.
